Farinelli the Composer
Although we can never really know what Farinelli sounded like, this recording of his music brings us a little bit closer.
Highly recommended for anyone interested in Baroque or Classical era opera.
American Short Works for Violin and Piano
Fain and his trusty colleague, pianist Pei Yao Wang are worthy partners for this material. Fain has crafted an album of violin and piano music that deserves to be further explored by more violinists.
Ah, Bach!
We played Bach, and people responded (or at least one listener did).
Comfort Music from Franco Ferrara
This would be a great disc to give to someone who's ready to move beyond the basic repertoire.
Piazzolla's Steely Passion
I’ve heard some Piazzolla recordings that make pleasant background music. This isn’t one of them. The brass bring an immediacy to the music that cannot be ignored. And that’s a good thing.
Dussek Piano Concertos - Undiscovered Gems
Tuneful and appealing -- recommended for the concertos.
WTJU Needs You!
Have you ever listened to a program on WTJU, and thought to yourself I could do better than that guy. Well, you're probably right.
Joseph Schwantner, Chaser of Light
Top-flight in every way.
Hummel at the Opera
Pleasant – and in some cases – thought-provoking arrangements that make for an enjoyable listening experience.
We are grateful for the generosity of the Joseph and Robert Cornell Memorial Foundation and UVA Arts Council, supporting WTJU and CharlottesvilleClassical.org.
