#ClassicsaDay #WomensHistoryMonth Week 4, 2025
Women composers are often unjustly overlooked by history. The problem is seldom the quality of their work -- just the worker's gender. The challenge in March is to post examples of music by women composers.
WorldView Episode 44: Dora Pejačević
The forty-fourth episode of WorldView features four new composers, including Countess Maria Theodora Paulina Pejačević, an accomplished artist of Croatian descent. Remembered for writing the first modern symphony of Croatian music, Pejačević remains a towering musical figure in the Balkans—despite many of her works only having been published in the last half century.
