#ClassicsaDay #PoetryMonth Week 2, 2025
April is Poetry Month. The Classics a Day challenge for April is to post examples of classical music inspired by poetry. The most obvious cases are poems set to music. But sometimes, inspiration runs deeper.
#ClassicsaDay #ClassicalSextet Week 4
June is the sixth month. It seemed a good time to make sextets the #ClassicsaDay monthly theme.
#ClassicsaDay #ClassicalFam Week 5
The challenge is to post video performances of musical family members. Post on any social media channel you like.
#ClassicsaDay #November11 Weeks 4 & 5
The challenge is to post works that are numbered 11 in some fashion, either an opus number, a series number, or even a suite number.
#ClassicsaDay #OctoberOctet Week 1
The mix of instruments that make up an octet varies. Some composers wrote for double string quartet, some for wind instruments, and some for a blend of instruments.
#ClassicaDay #ClassicalChristmas Week 1
For the past four years, the #ClassicsaDay team has adopted Classical Christmas as its theme for December. And why not? We have a rich body of music related to the season dating back to the Middle Ages. A good deal of it is religious, but not all -- many works are simply inspired by the time of year.
We are grateful for the generosity of the Joseph and Robert Cornell Memorial Foundation and UVA Arts Council, supporting WTJU and CharlottesvilleClassical.org.
